The GracyFiber PM AAWG Module is designed for dense wavelength multiplexing and demultiplexing in optical systems that require both high channel density and polarization-maintaining fiber interfaces.
The module uses Arrayed Waveguide Grating technology implemented on a silica planar lightwave circuit. Multiple wavelength channels are routed through the AWG structure according to their center wavelengths, allowing several optical channels to be combined onto a common optical path or separated into individual channel ports.
The product operates across the 1525–1565 nm C-band, with center wavelengths based on the ITU grid from C13 to C64 or customized according to the required configuration.
Three channel-spacing families are documented. The 150 GHz version supports 32 or 40 channels, while the 100 GHz configuration extends to 60 channels. For higher-density DWDM systems, the 50 GHz family supports 80, 88, or 96 channels.
Different optical filter profiles are also available. Flat-top filtering is provided across the documented spacing families, while a Gaussian configuration is available for 50 GHz systems. Because the two filter profiles have different passband, insertion-loss, ripple, isolation, and extinction-ratio characteristics, the appropriate configuration can be selected according to system filtering requirements.
The PM AAWG incorporates PM1550 fiber pigtails for polarization-sensitive optical architectures. The supplied specification further defines alignment of the PM fiber and connector key to the slow axis.
Package options include a compact module as well as rack-mount housings, allowing the device to be integrated into optical transmission, DCI, amplifier, laboratory, and other polarization-sensitive systems.
Coherent optical transport systems use multiple closely spaced wavelength channels to increase transmission capacity over available fiber infrastructure.
The PM AAWG Module can multiplex or demultiplex these C-band channels with 50, 100, or 150 GHz spacing, while the PM fiber interface supports systems where polarization characteristics must be controlled.
Coherent 100G, 400G, and 800G DWDM systems are explicitly identified as applications in the supplied documentation.
DCI systems may use dense C-band wavelength multiplexing to transport multiple optical channels between data center locations.
The 50 GHz configuration supports up to 96 wavelength channels, providing a high-density wavelength interface for DWDM-based interconnect architectures.
Optical laboratories and production test systems may require stable wavelength separation or combination across the C-band.
The availability of multiple channel spacings, Flat-Top or Gaussian filtering, PM fiber pigtails, and compact or rack-mounted packaging allows the PM AAWG Module to be integrated into polarization-sensitive optical test platforms.
GracyFiber supplies passive optical components and fiber-optic assemblies for optical communication, photonics, wavelength management, and polarization-sensitive systems.
