The PM Fiber Array is a critical component designed to manage and maintain the polarization state of light across multiple parallel channels. Unlike standard fiber arrays, the PM-FA features Polarization-Maintaining (PM) fibers precisely mounted within a high-accuracy V-Groove substrate (typically Quartz or Silicon). Its core function is not only the sub-micron alignment of fiber cores but, crucially, the accurate angular alignment of the fiber's stress-rods (polarization axes) relative to the array plane. This dual-precision capability is paramount for achieving a high Extinction Ratio (ER), low insertion loss, and stable performance required in next-generation coherent optical systems.
