The Modular Plug-in GPON OLT is a chassis-based optical line terminal designed for scalable GPON access network deployment. Its modular architecture allows GPON service cards and other functional modules to be installed within a common chassis, providing a flexible platform for expanding optical access capacity according to network requirements.
A modular GPON OLT uses a chassis with plug-in service cards, allowing PON capacity and other functions to be expanded by adding or changing modules. A compact OLT normally has a fixed number of PON and uplink interfaces. Modular systems are therefore more suitable for networks that require higher port density or future capacity expansion.
The OLT is normally installed on the network side, such as in an ISP central office, telecom equipment room, campus core room, or enterprise access facility. It connects through passive optical splitters to downstream ONU or ONT devices installed closer to end users.
