The OM5 LC/UPC to LC/UPC Duplex Fiber Optic Patch Cord is designed for high-speed multimode optical interconnection in data centers, enterprise networks, and other short-reach fiber systems. It uses OM5 wideband multimode fiber (WBMMF), which is optimized to support short-wavelength optical transmission across a broader wavelength range than conventional multimode fiber.

OM5 is a wideband multimode fiber designed to support short-wavelength transmission over an extended wavelength range. Compared with conventional multimode fiber, it is particularly suitable for SWDM applications that transmit multiple optical wavelengths over the same fiber.
It can be used in high-speed multimode systems when the fiber type, transceiver, wavelength configuration, connector interface, and transmission distance are compatible. The actual supported data rate and reach are determined by the complete optical link design rather than by the patch cord alone.
